Super Mario Sunshine just got a sequel in the year of our lord 2024 – GAMINGbible

This news will brighten your day!

When it comes to iconic video game mascots, perhaps none are more iconic than Nintendo’s Super Mario – a franchise which has blessed us with hit after hit since its inception in the early 80s. With so many games available in the Super Mario video game series on Nintendo, it’s difficult to pick one single favourite. That being said, the chances are that Super Mario Bros. (NES), Super Mario 64 (N64) or Super Mario Galaxy would be standout picks for many.

Another favourite could be Super Mario Sunshine which was originally released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2002. However, this entry is somewhat polarising with fans (for a Super Mario game), earning a score of 92 from critics and 8.2 from users on the aggregate website Metacritic.

It’s unlikely that we’ll ever get an official sequel to Super Mario Sunshine, but as reported by DSOGaming, fans have taken matters into their own hands with Super Mario Eclipse. This is a mod of the popular 2002 game that boasts 120 new shines, and three playable characters with Luigi and Il Piantissimo joining Mario.

What’s more, this massive Super Mario Sunshine mod on PC also brings improved gameplay mechanics, story missions, an original soundtrack, cut-scenes as well as new and remixed boss fights, and more. The developers of the mod have also teased rewards for those that 100% complete Super Mario Eclipse. To play this mod, you will need the Dolphin Emulator as well as a North American emulation of Super Mario Sunshine. Hopefully, Nintendo won’t take down this mod anytime soon.
