J.P. Morgan Asset Management names global head of data science – Pensions & Investments

Arezu Moghadam joined J.P. Morgan Asset Management as managing director and global head of data science.

Ms. Moghadam will be based in New York and report to Kristian West, head of investment platform, said a news release Monday.

“This is a newly expanded global role, replacing former head of data science Ravit Mandell, who oversaw a team in New York,” a spokeswoman said in an email.

Ms. Moghadam will “lead the development of artificial intelligence and machine-learning methods that will help drive innovative solutions for data-driven investment decision-making, improved client engagement and operational effectiveness,” the news release said.

Ms. Moghadam was head of quantitative analytics for its market intelligence unit at Point72 Asset Management. Officials at Point72 could not be immediately reached for further details.

J.P. Morgan Asset Management had $2.6 trillion in assets under management as of March 31.
